UPLOADING MICROSOFT WORKS AND AV SOFTWARE

Hello, I have a cd both for Vipre antivirus software and Microsoft Office 7 cd and I've tried uploading these programs onto a new ASUS 54c laptop but the laptop comes up with a 'bluescreen' rejection.

First, are they both versions compatible with Windows 7?

And is it MS Office (which would be 2007 not 7) or MS Works?

For anti-virus, you can use MS Security Essentials, it's free and good. Or AVG or Avira Antivir.

For Office, if your version does not work, OpenOffice is free, but is slightly different.
