Upgrading PC from 2-3years ago

Hi,

My brother helped me build a home PC using parts from an old computer and a few new parts but this was about 3 years ago.
I am looking to upgrade the computer as I want to play some games which my graphics card is already not capable of playing. I currently play on the lowest settings to make sure I get the highest FPS but also looking to record some games.

Current setup:
Motherboard: ASUS P5Q SE Plus
CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q8300 2.5Ghz
Heatsink: Asus Silent Square Evo
Graphics: Geforce Inno3d iChill series 7600
PSU: Enermax Liberty ELT500AWT
RAM: 4GB

Sorry if its not very detailed my knowledge of computers is quite basic but I have a budget of £300 - £400 to upgrade the best I can.
If you need more details just ask and I will try my best.

  1. Okay after some research I got these:

    Power supply: Corsair AX850
    Graphics card: Sapphire HD7870

    Around £328 with free delivery

Does everything look okay? I checked the details for both items and the rest of my parts (I think) meet the requirements for them but just wanted to double check.
  2. Yes, that looks like a good plan to me. I would go with a GTX 660 or GTX 570 from NVIDIA, as they are the same price, but much better performance.

gives a good list of relative performance to price.
