APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Around during black friday or cyber monday. which has better prices? budget is around 500 and below

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming :)  Games such as Bf3, MW3, Crysis 2, Minecraft xD. I tend to do video editing using Adobe After affects and Sony Vegas. Also for just web browsing, watching them youtube videos, and just plain homework.

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: Well i didnt buy a gpu when i bought my stuff, but my friend gave me his old 6670, but when he was at my house he dropped the guitar capo on it and it like broke.. I have a 600 watt Corsair Gaming Series power supply

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: Cpu is a x6 1600t @ 4.0 ghz. ( Not a 1100t a 1600t yu unlock it from a 960t.) My case is a NZXT Phantom 410. My mobo is some am3+ it can crossfire but at x16, x4 so i dont plan to crossfire. I have a Noctua NH-D14 cpu cooler, and i have fans in my case.

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: I only want to purchase from newegg cause i really dont trust any other sites. Sorry if this is a pain in the but :(

PARTS PREFERENCES: I preferably dont give a crap but no reference design unless it uses like a 680 pcb on like a 670. Also i'd rather not go xfx because i have read that they have coil whine, if this is not true, just comment below about it.
OVERCLOCKING: Yes SLI OR CROSSFIRE: No

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1080

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Must be a beast of a card :) . I have been thinking if i should get the MSI R7970 Lightning or the 7970 GHz series if i go amd.

Whata bout the lightning? It looks sexy, has a good cooler and its clock rate is better

So pretty much then you are looking at a 7970 for your budget....msi makes good cards I personally would not get a msi lightning card bc I have owned one and it doesnt live up to its cool and quiet name IMO...doesnt do either.....but others have alot of good things to say about the msi lightning cards so I bet they are pretty good.

The 7970 Lightning is absolutely not quiet, but it is cool and has decent OC potential. I think that the Sapphire Vapor-X GHz edition 7970 @ $450 is the way to go right now, though. Keep in mind that your CPU will bottleneck somewhat in any CPU-dependent games.

What voltages do you have to keep your 1205/1800 OC stable?

Have you looked at the EVGA GTX 670 FTW? It's an overclocked 670 on the 680s pcb with a 680 cooler. I own it and have run a stock 670 from EVGA too, Despite the overclocks it actually runs cooler than a stock 670 thanks to the 680 PCB and cooler. Its a champ of a card and is probably one of the best values on the market right now. The overclocks also let it run up next to the 680 and 7970 while smoking the 7950.

I also bought a 680 backplate and have it mounted on it.

It smoked the 7950 back before the 12.7 drivers. With the 12.7 or 12.8 drivers, the 7950 is on par with the 670 and the 7970 is on par with the 680.

1.24vcore and 1.63vram for those clocks

Unless I'm benchmarking, I just run at 1195/1800 because I can lower my vcore to 1.21 at 1195 and temps/noise stay lower.

You'd have to switch to intel for a CPU upgrade... bulldozer/piledriver aren't upgrades for gaming. You'll only bottleneck in stuff like RTS games and Skyrim... and everything will be very playable. I ran a 1600t at 4.0 GHz with an XFX DD BE 7970 @ 1200/1700 for a few months before upgrading my system and was happy with it.

Dunno what you're smoking... the 7950 is only on par with the 670 if you factor overclocking into the equation.

I suggest this 670: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

It has earn Toms'hardware recommended award, will play everything at 1920x1080 at absolute maximum and also you will take advantage of the CUDA cores with Sony Vega, a feature that AMD cards like 7970 lacks.

Bad argument when in nearly every other non-gaming gpu use, the 7970 beats any kepler card.

The 670 vs. 7970 debate will go on without resolution, just like an AMD vs Intel debate.

Minecraft - Both GPU's will run it at 200+FPS.
MW3- Same thing as Minecraft
Not too sure about Crysis, but the 7970 wins, AFAIK.
BF3- In favor of the 670 by a few FPS.

CUDA on the 6xx series is subpar. It's really bad, and the compute is terrible as well. For gaming, they're great. Don't get them for CUDA though. I think those programs use OpenCL, so the 7970 is a good choice.

Its clocked really low... bad reviews

I can't find any reviews on it, and as for it being clocked really low, well its a GHz card so it is clocked over 1GHz?
