New GPU

Ok everyone will think I am crazy but here it goes. My current system is as follows:

CPU - I5 2500k OC @ 4.0
RAM - 8 GB Mushkin Blackline 1600
PSU - Corsair TX750
GPU- Gigabyte 6950 2 GB refernce flashed ad OC'ed to 6970 specs
MOBO - ASRock Extreme 3 Z68
Case - HAF 922 (plenty of air movement)

So my big complaint is the fan noise (sounds like a jet coming in for a landing) on the reference card at 50% fan which it reaches when my temps hit 70c which happens pretty quickley while gaming but never goes above 80c. What I'm looking for is a cooler, quieter card. I am considring the GTX670 or 680 and the HD7950 or 7970. I would like to stay under or around $500 but for the right card I can go higher.

Gtx 680 isn't worth the value. You can consider hd7970 if your planning to game at 2560x1600/ multimonitor setup. Otherwise, gtx670 is your best bet for a single 1920x1080 monitor.

The evga gtx 670 ftw actually performs better than a stock gtx680 for much less $$
