Cd/dvd player not opening

I had to change out my HD and when I did that, I also changed my os to windows 7. I used to be able to use my cd/dvd player but since the upgrade, I can not use my cd/dvd player. I have to open it up manually with a paperclip, and I see there is power to the player but it doesn't play nor does my computer recognize the drive, please assist

This is a physical issue with the player, not from Windows 7. Double-check power and data cables. Since this happened right after you swapped hard-drives you must have knocked something loose.
