I just purchased a new laptop (ASUS U47A-BGR4), replaced the HDD with an SSD (OCZ Vertex 4), and installed Windows 7 Ult. 64. I had a few issues while installing the chipset and audio drivers--wouldn't boot into Windows until performing startup repair--but things were working. However, after installing Intel Graphics HD driver the video (and entire display, ie. no backlight) disappears after Windows logo. After uninstalling the driver in Safe Mode I'm able to boot into Windows again. I've installed older versions of Intel's driver and the driver from ASUS's website. I have tried using external display as well; the issue persists.
The only relevant information I have been able to find about this issue is here:
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I would even be willing to stick with Standard VGA Windows driver, except that in order to adjust brightness on my display the Intel driver needs to be installed.
