Help with new budget gaming build!

Hello, could anyone suggest me a CPU+GPU combo for around £310 using Amazon.co.uk, Scan.co.uk or cclonline.com? I want to be able to play most modern games with playable fps.

Also, why an i3-2100? you can get an i3-3220 for around the same price and it performs slightly better but i heard i3s aren't very good for gaming, is this true?

Because i could not fit i5 in your budget with decent card and i3 will bottleneck with 7950
