Vsync not stopping tearing?

Hi,

I bought Crysis in the steam sale but it is unplayable because of the screen tearing. Fraps shows the fps at around 47 but dips to 40 sometimes which isn't bad... its not like I'm dipping to 20 or something. The screen tear happens when i look at a less demanding area then turn round and face something where there is allot going on. But in general just turning causes some tear. The thing is this is happening with the Vsync turned on. The Vsync reduces the FPS, reduces the tearing a little but it is still very noticeable.

I have tried forcing Vsync through CCC (latest drivers) and turned to the triple buffer. When that made no difference I tried to use rivatuna d3doverrider to force it and still nothing.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Thanks :)

Just had a look and when forcing it through CCC the fps in game are about 70 so if i am playing at 60hz shouldn't it not go above 60fps? Does this mean its not working?

what vsync does is lock your max fps to whatever your screen refresh rate is. so if yoru screen refresh rate is 60hz, then your fps max in game with vsync on should only be 60fps(it will flicker on and off from the number - 1 back and forth)

So the frames are at 70fps on medium-high settings yet my TV is 60hz... so in game vsync and forced vsync can't be working.. any idea why?

Ok I have tried forcing vysnc with radeonpro and the FPS are locked at 60 and since i have a 60hz monitor this is right. But there is STILL tearing or at least some kind of line that appears when I turn that looks like tearing.. it docent happen in any other games?
