Just noticed that my Gigabyte GTX 470 is running at ~72 C when idle. Already dusted my case, the wiring is freshly done, specs below.

Intel Core i5-750 @ 3.3 GHz
16 GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3-1600 @ 1666 MHz, 9-10-10-24
90 GB OCZ Agility 3 (System+apps)
2 TB Western Digital Caviar Green (storage)
Corsair TX650W power supply
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 470 @ stock
Asus Xonar DG Sound Card
Generic wireless adapter, DVD writer

Thanks for any help!

I know they are, but they aren't famous for idling hotter than 50 C :) I have an Antec 300 with 2 intakes at the front, a out in the top and an out in the back. There's room for one more fan on the side panel (all are 120mm)

I have 2 470 in sli stacked on top of each other. My old board has them basically touching. I have 3 80mm case fans.

Both cards idle in the 40s and hit 50 watching videos and stuff. The both hit 90 at load while gaming.

Make sure the fan is spinning. Make sure there is no card or anything blocking the bottom intake of the fan. Try a can of air to clean the fan and vents.
Try a program like msi afterburner to check the fan speed.

If that does not work you could try new thermal paste

I got 3 of them... that's the way the bios is set. At 90 the fan is only at like 55%. If I manually set the fan to 75 or 90% they go down to 75ish.

I guess if the man wanted them to run in the 75s he would have set the bios for a more aggressive fan profile.

Fan is spinning, though it's gone down to ~65 C. Fan idles at 43%. Already used compressed air. I may go to new thermal paste if any other suggestions don't work.
