Here's a gaming system I'm building for a friend, and the PSU I chose goes a little over the budget.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme3
PSU: Thermaltake TR2 700w
RAM: CORSAIR XMS3 8GB DDR3
GPU: ASUS GTX 650
Monitor: Acer G205HVbd 20"
Case: NZXT M59
SATA: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
OS: Windows 7
Disc: ASUS 24x DVD Burner
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Case Fans:Cooler Master 120mm Blue LED x2

The Thermaltake TR2 goes a little over the budget, so I was wondering, would a Corsair CX500 be enough wattage to run this system well? If not, are there any better power supply suggestions that are >$60?

You are going for a single GPU and as long as its at least a gold rating 500W... I dont see why it wont run.

Yeah 500W is fine for that build. I doubt you will need the extra fans as well. If you can save a bit on the fans and PSU, I'd be tempted to get a slightly better GPU.

Anything below a 560ti in terms of power consumption could be run on a $40 Antec 450W. It's the best power supply for the price, and based on benchmarks, at full load it can actually pull 550W of power and still maintain 81% efficiency. It has been recommended in Tom's System Build Marathon multiple times.

You dont need 80 plus gold, standard 80 plus would be preferable though
