I'm trying to wean myself from Kazaa and heard that Bitorrent was a good alternative. Now that I have it installed, hoe do I share files? Someone told me that you have to go to special websites that have torrent downloads, but how do I find them? Please help, I'm lost....

I would recommend not using the default bit torrent client, go download Azureus, it allows you to limit upload and a lot of other things while still downloading.

I've been using bittorrent for months now w/o problems...

I've used TorrentTopia for its mix support of various Torrent sources.
But yeah, Torrents are the way to go now!
As Silverpig once said, they can't stop us now!

What can I say, you were right about BitTorrent, or Torrents in general!
In return I expect oral pleasures.

I'm having problems with my torrents. It seems as though my school is blocking p2p communications somehow. I connect to their network at 11Mbps, and web pages and their associated downloads are lightning fast. However, any p2p stuff will not download at all. I can search the networks, and select files I want, but the download never starts or is limited to a trickle. What gives?

IMO, if you d/l from school, the ports used bittorrent by will be closed...

Well I asked the schools IT people. They sadi that they do block all torrent, gnutella, kazaa, ect... as they find them. However, it turns out that my school has a hub here for direct connect. I'm getting about 600 KB per secong downloads...SWOOT!!!!!

Great!
DC++ is an excellent alternative when Torrents don't work. Just gotta have lots of sharing space, which sucks.
