Battery error message

Hello, my fairly new sony vaio laptop keeps telling me that the battery plugged in is not valid or is not making a connection, it says that after it has been on a running for several minutes and it shut itself down to hibernate mode, any suggestions

If it is fairly new, it should be under warranty. But, you could try.. unplug the laptop, take out the battery, hold the power button down for about 10 seconds, put the battery back in, plug in the pc and start the pc. Then, when this doesn't work, check your warranty.
