Hello, been lurking but posting now.
I built my rig in 2009, back when I was in high school and I am now in my last year for 3D Animation with the same rig. As I do 3d animation/digital art/3d modelling more often I want to finally upgrade/build a new rig.

Currently Im using:
Overclocked q6600 G0
8gb ddr2
3x500gb hard drives(seriously old, reused from pentium4 pc)
Sapphire 6950 2gb(with unlocked shaders)
Corsair AX850

All this in the first revision Antec 900 case.
I am using a bunch of different sized widescreens(1680x1050, 1920x1080 and 1440x900) <<< I want to replace them all with identical 27" ones @2560x1440 eventually.

Now, I have been out of the loop with amd/i series chips but from what I've seen the Intel are winning.

I've never used nvidia before, was always with ati but I would like to make a switch now due to cuda/physX(for some games) and for triple monitor setup I would need to go SLI, which Im happy to do.

The only games I currently play are Eve, Tera and Battlefield 3, I don't see myself changing these anytime soon but more will be added.

Im going to keep the PSU and graphics card for now but the rest will go. I've set my eyes on a 3770k or 3930k(from reading a bunch of topics it seems i should get 3770k) and so the motherboards will be z77/x79 but i'll figure that out once I settle with the cpu.
I also hear that Haswell is coming soon and some would wait for it.

Sorry for the ramble, anyways, I want a new case that can push a lot of air and has plenty of room for big SLI setups(so probably a full tower).

Thank you for reading so far and I would like to hear your opinion on the cpu/case/graphic cards.(quadro's are out of the question as i would like to play games :p)

Best I could do based on the info you gave me. Unfortunately, a good 27" monitor is VERY expensive. The 3770k is definitely what you need. No real reason to pay for that 3930K unless you are rendering full games or something.

Pay attention next time to what the OP wants. He said no power supply or GPU since he is reusing, and this is not for gaming. He is PRIMARILY using as a rendering build, in which case a 3570k is okay, but you can't beat the 3770k. Also he asked for a full tower, not that crappy Zalman. For editing, 16GB of RAM is a must. Please know what your talking about and what the OP wants before you post...
