I am deciding between the GeForce GTX 550 Ti or the Radeon HD 5900.

I am running a i7 920 CPU with 12 gigs of RAM OC from 2666 to 3200 range. Primarily, I will using this system for WoW. I have a 850W power supply available to me for the Radeon but currently have a 500w power supply in the system..

Also, can anyone suggest a good power supply utility for me so I know if I am running short?

I thought it was a 5900 but after some research I may be talking of the 5970 just in 5900 series because I can't find a Radeon hd 5900 card. I'll run PC Wizard tonight and find out exactly what card it is. Is there such a thing as HD 5900?

I checked everything out more closely and turns out I do have a Radeon HD 5970. I put it back in but the text in WoW is a bit fuzzy for some reason, not sure why as all my drivers are fully up to date. Also, with this card being so high end I not getting the steller graphics FPS I would expect.

So I'll be working on some OCing profile for it. Any ideas why the text is games would be fuzzy and not near as clear and defined as with the Geforce card?

the HD 5970 is a beast card beats the new HD 7950 in some games and in other the HD 7950 wins because of better DX11 support. downside though the HD 5970 is a power sucker requires a 850W or more PSU. Go for something that uses less power and runs cooler

So... A GTX 550 Ti vs. a Radeon HD 5970... That's like pitting a hamster against a pitbull. Different leagues entirely. The 5970 will destroy the 550 Ti up and down the board.
