I am trying to add a graphics card to my system. I currently do not have a graphics card, just the integrated 760g on the mobo. I am only looking to spend about $120 shipped, because i dont have much to spend, and i mostly play mmo's, and if i do play crisis or something like that every now and then, it doesnt have to be a constant 60fps for me to be happy. My power supply does have 1 pcie plug on it. I am open to other cards, if someone feels there is better in my price range for the type of performance i am looking for. If it matters, i have an athlon iix3 processor and 8 gb corsair ram. Thanks for any help.

Hey there.

HD 7750 and GTX 550 Ti are similar in gaming power, but HD 7750 uses less electricity.

HD 7770 is around 20% faster than both of them.

Lastly, I'd suggest waiting a day for Nvidia to release GTX 650, it should be priced at $120 and it might be a worthy contender.

Definitely get the HD 7770 GHz edition if you want the power. Otherwise get the 7750 as it is seriously a great card.
The 550ti is kind of a joke TBH.

I have heard a lot of mixed things about the 550 ti...i guess ill go with either the 7750 or the 7770. Only problem there is that with the 7750 ive been reading since i posted this and im seeing people claim that the 6770 is a better performer just not as efficient, but im not really worried about it having a pcie plug versus the 7750 not having one. I have one available to use....

i think it will be less than $120 mark. Hard OCP did release their GTX 660 review yesterday for a few minutes before the article got pull back. not sure if that was intentional or not but they briefly mention about GTX650 although they didn't bench the card. if what they were saying is true the price for GTX650 will be around $110 mark. it will be clocked at 1GHz+ and will consume 64w much like GT640. but the reference still including 1 6 pin pci-e power on the card for overclocking purpose.

lol?

about 6770 vs 7750 you can look this benchmark though anand use 5770 instead of 6770 in their test

The reason people have and still do scorn the 550Ti, is that a 7750 is the same strength and yet it is cheaper, whereas a 7770 is about the same price and delivers as well as a 6850.

To answer whether or not a 7750 is strong enough: it can run BF3 on high in 1080p!

right now my computer is just sitting at 1024 x 768. I dont really see the need for it to be super high...ill probably never set it higher than 1280 x 1024, and that would only be if i decided to play around with it to check out the look and i liked it. I have the option to go up to 1600x1200, but i tried it once and didnt like everything so small lol

alright guys, so i was deciding between the 7750 and the gtx 550 ti, because i was being cheap and didnt want to pay the few extra bucks for the 7770...yes i am broke lol. anyways, my wife saw that the gtx 550 ti comes with a free copy of photoshop when you register, so she says im getting that one...she loves to take/edit pictures, so i guess my mind is made and my pc is now for photo editing...atleast while im at work lol.
