networking problems with Dell Optiplex gx100?

we have had nothing but trouble out of these, integrated network, I think 3com. 810 chipset, cel 433, win98se.
any clues?

Dell has some recent updates for the NIC
on their Optiplex support web site.
I updated mine and it works great.
