ok.. i just bought a new athlon.. doesn't the mobo or antyhing... but here is what matters.. there were problem and the guy had to change stuff.. he switched my cpu cooler, replaced my mobo but i don;t think he game me my athlon xp 1600+

on boot up i quickly say athlon 1200 mhz but i know that 1600+ is 1400 mhz clock speed.. in my system properties

it says this

AuthenticAMD
AMD Athlon(tm) Processor

is this right?
should it say xp somewhere in there?

if this guy switched it up on me.. oh boy.. he gonna be in trouble

for windows 2000 it does specify that it's an XP.

is your cpu brown or green? and look on the chip and see does it look like an xp chip.. you can tell because the core is more rectangular then square.

sounds like you might have gottin ripped.

I would say you got taken by the guy. Your multiplyer should be at 10.5 and since xp's are multiplier locked it should be running at either 1050 at 100fsb or 1400 at 133fsb. not at 1200 unless you or he unlocked it and underclocked it. Id try setting the multiplier to default and the fsb to 133 if you do that your true speed will be revieled

Grab WCPUID (you can find it for download on Yahoo), and use it. It'll let you know what your processor is.

[-peep-].. i don;t want to be racist but sometimes chinese are difficult to deal with. (no offense please.. i have lots of chinese friends but the computer store guys are something else)

he also changed the fan i bought from a volcano 6 or 6+ i forget which i got to a cooler master somthing or other.. i can tell what it is when the computer is on...

should i yell and ask for money back or are the two about the same.. i know that teh master cooler is much more quiet then the volcano 6 but is it worth the same money?

I'd check the hsf. Coolermaster makes a hsf that looks almost identical to the volcano 5,6, and the 6+. easiest way is to see if there are ridges on the outside, if there are he just switched fans. If there isn't then he swapted you heatsinks. It sounds like the guy was trying to rip you off. One mistake is one thing but this is way too much. When I work on a pc, It doesn't matter how many I'm working on at once I still know what I'm doing to each individual one.

If I was you I'ed find recipts for you ariginal equipment and then take photos of what you have now. (Try using a camera that shows the date on the picture).
Then go straight to your store with COPIES of the photos and evidence - never take originals they'll swindle them somehow. After you've shown them the evidence demand you original equipment back or you'll write an article to your local paper, you'll get your lawyer/solicitor involved and you'll take the company to court.

Hopefully upon producing the evidence they should cough up the orginal parts.
