Toms Hardware,

Please be my knight in shining armor.

Long story short, I am SLI two Geforce 660 TI. (2)

What did I want out of them? A solid 60 PLUS FPS on ultra in BF3. (1920 x 1080)

What am I getting? 30-40s. :fou:  :fou:  :fou:  :fou:  :fou:  :fou:

I have tried everything! Driver sweeper, reinstall of drivers and all that good stuff :( .

My question to you is, WHY Does this happen :|.
I just want it to work :)

System:

FX 8120 @ 3.1 Ghz.
Gigabyte UMD 3 FX990 Mobo
4G Vengeance RAM
800 WATT GS V2 PSU
128 GB SSD
2X 660 ti SLI

Update:

I tried the lowest of them all. World of Warcraft. 40 FPS :|

What is your GPU/CPU usage during gameplay? Over clock the 8120 a bit.

How do I monitor GPU usage?

Nevermind, I'm using GPUZ for it. I'll post in a moment.

I use evga precision, which you can download from the evga website. If your GPU usage is not the 90% range f then you have a bottleneck.
Also in nvidia control panel make sure sli is enabled.

My average load is 45-60 %

did u try the new driver?
September 14, 2012 3:38:38 AM

Thanks for the replies, I have done both, new drivers and nvidia control panel, should I try overclocking my 8120?

Have you tried each card individually?

Afterburner is a cool program to use as well you can have all the info set to display in game.

Why did you put 2 660's with a horrifically slow FX CPU? You are being bottlenecked buy that CPU. Should have gone Intel.

I'm kind of a noob on cpu stuff, but my I5 3570k is only 3.6ghz 3.1 doesn't sound that slow.

make sure your running the newest bios on your mb. use cpu-z and look at your ram info in the spd tab. make sure your ram running at it max rated speed. make sure you got the newest mb chipset drivers from amd. make sure with gpu-z both cards are read right and the bus speeds are right. ie 8x 8x for each card. in the games and nvidia control panel. make sure you have the slider set to performance by default it in the middle between performance and quality. under global setting if you have one monitor set it up and turn off power savings. you may have to tweek v-sink and other setting there like tripple buffering.
most time the kiler is aa and aafx. game or nvidia set it to 8 or 16x...try turning it down and see if your frame rate goes up.

Overclock that CPU to 4.0ghz + and turn off any CPU turbo boost.

if ur cpu is at 95-100% then its ur cpu. try getting a better one.

edit: daang ur cpu is new. the 8 core amd 8120. still check ur cpu ^ %.

Don't just report the total usage because most games don't scale well to many cores. Tell us the load on each core (ballpark it if you have to).

The IPC's and modular shared architecture of Bulldozer is very poor compared to Intel. Clock speed means nothing in 2012. You system is being held back.

My cpu load stays at like 60-70 percent. My graphics card hit around 50-65%. I can't believe a brand new 8120 would bottleneck :|.

hmm. did u try using each card individually? i have a 660ti. i get 60fps vsync with all games out now. never goes below 60fps.

My only question would be is if you are running past 4xMSAA?
September 15, 2012 11:43:45 AM

you have you think because world of warcraft is not a gpu based game its a cpu based game and also runs on how well your internet connection is so world of warcraft is not the lowest of them all because is a cpu based game NOT GPU

wait. Your not at 100% load while running BF3? What? You got to throttle that harder.

Kinda curious. Why did you SLI 660Ti s? You could have bought a 680 and kicked ass.

New benchmarks were just done and two 660's actually beat one 680. If were buying new cards personally I would just get one 680 tho.

single card will always be better than one! less heat, less noise etc..

70% CPU on 8 core = 6 cores at 100%. You need to OC the CPU to at least 4.5 GHz if you want 60 fps!

It's not that. You can't compare AMD to Intel cpu's the same way. IPC's and modular shared architecture of FX is prety bad compared to Intel. And that makes them really slow and bad.

Pretty much sounds like a bottleneck neck to me. Check your CPU load.

I also have a similar problem, i also have dual 660 ti sli but when i go sli and ultra on bf3, fps drops to 30 to 20 fps but when i disable sli and run a single card along i get better results on ultra, 60 to 50 fps with fraps. The GPU load is around 50-60 percent most of the time, sometimes up to 80% with just one 660 ti.
Is something bottle necking my PC? Thankyou

Yup, It's his CPU and his RAM
If he's not going to be recording he'll need 8gb
Also, dual 660 Ti?
you need a better CPU
Also, if you are running SLI it's best to have non - Ti
!
