Hello,

Not sure if this is the right section, but anyway:

I am planning on building a new system, with the following components:

Intel i5 3570k
ASrock z77 extreme4
Sapphire HD7950 Vapor-X OC
Corsair 8gb DDR3-1600 Kit
Corsair CX 750watt
SSD Samsung 830 - 128 gb basic kit
CM Hyper 212 EVO

Now, for my OS. I think i will go for windows 8, in that case i'd like to use the upgrade thingy. And the only OS I have at home with disc and code, is Windows XP home 32 bit. Is it possible that I install that on my new rig, then run the 64 bit windows 8 installation upgrade DVD i will buy? That way i'll save alot of money.

Regards,

Leon.

You may run into problems since you only have a 32 bit version of windows xp.
And then trying to install a 64 bit version of windows 8.
Have a good check to see if it can be done. If I remember rightly going say from a 32 bit version of windows 7 to a windows 64 bit version required a clean install.
If the case with windows 8 the upgrade pack is not recommended. But have a check on the Microsoft web site to be sure.

NB: I just checked and it is right, if you have an existing 32 bit os on the system as it stands windows 8 will upgrade to the 32 bit version only.
You will need to install a previous 64 bit OS on the system before the upgrade to windows 8 64 bit.
