Hey guys!

I'm getting into PC gaming and was wondering what this rig is capable of. I found it on a thread on this site (but did not want to bump a really old thread), and was wondering if you guys suggest I get it.

Is this still a really good rig (best bang for my buck)? I would use it mostly for gaming (with a little bit a internet browsing and game development).

And I was wondering if it can run stuff like: Borderlands 2, AC3 (with a really low res. and low settings), and Arma 2 (with low res. and low settings).

Thanks so much for your help!

I don't like Hitachi drives (not a very good failure rate), that 6950 is discontinued, that motherboard was a refurb link and is gone, I've heard bad things about the Cougar PSUs, and the Phenom II CPUs aren't worth buying in the light of current AMD and Intel CPUs that are much more efficient and similarly or better performing.

I wouldn't recommend that build even if all of its parts were available.

Instead, why don't you check this build out:

Wow, shows how much I know! :)  Thanks for the info. So would this new build be able to run stuff like: Borderlands 2, AC3 (with a really low res. and low settings), and Arma 2 (with low res. and low settings).

Sorry, I'm really new to PC gaming! :p

Thanks so much for your help!

LOL, It'll play all of those games maxed out texture settings in full 1080p and get excellent frame rates. The 7850 is a great card for 1080p, although it may have trouble getting more than a little if any MSAA in some of the most intensive games such as Sleeping Dogs in 1080p.

WOW! And I though I would need to spend over $1000 to play these games with high settings! Thank you so much for all your help!

Glad to help.

~$1000 could get you excellent performance in 5760x1080 instead of just 1080p if we tried hard to get a great build around that budget ;)

Thanks! But I don't need more than 1080p. :)
