"Best" CD-RW? IDE or SCSI?

My choice would be:

Plextor offers unparalleled performance and reliability. However, at the lower end of the spectrum, Aopens and Liteons are good.

I haven't really been keeping up with Sony's burners, so I can't really give you an answer on that. However, I did look for a link to some comments on CNET:

Thanks, but I was referring to Sony's latest 24X burner. It's available at a very low price, so it looks interesting.

Many people seem to hate Sony's bundled software in the 16X version but I couldn't care less because I already have Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum.

When comparing Nero to EZCD Creator, I think that Nero takes the show. You can download a trial version and try it out.

I already have Easy CD Creator! I don't care about the interface or features as long as the program does what I want it to do.

Lite On cd burners are fast and affordable, have burnproof, and are a good alternative to more expensive Plextor drives if cost is a concern.

And as for burning software, EZ CD Creator is horrible... that software is the spawn of darkness. And you guessed it, Nero is the light ^_^

If all you do with your burner is writing MP3s and making backups of your data, then don't even try to use Nero, you won't even know how to start the burn process... In that case you can use that piece of CRAP of software called EZCD Creator (for dummies)...
I compare EZ CD Creator with AOL. They are both expensive ways to get things done, they were made thinking that people is stupid, and they have g*y features...
If you want to overburn, create a boot cd, create a cd in mixed mode, and be able to set all the possible settings, go for Nero. If you want to make a backup (eheheh!!!) of a new game that just came out or of a new N'Sync or BSpears CD (which are all protected) then use Clone CD.....
...ah, by the waygo for Plextor man... it's the only one that won't disappoint you when it comes to copies (ahem... backups) with Clone CD...
If after this post you still think it's better to keep using your EZ CD Creator, then go to CompUSA and buy an HP burner...

I used to use Nero, it was great, then along came verion 5!

Suddenly, i could only write at 2x without buffer underruns!

I've now got EZErubbish which can handle 8x nicely, but i still want Nero back.

Does anyone have the Lite-On 24x10x40 SMART-Burn CD-Writer? I'm wondering how good and stable it is...

Here's a review:

The place I was looking at was at Newegg for $96 retail.

Ricoh 7200a does everything really well DAE, overburn etc. It is only 20/10/40, but the features are some of the best. It is not officially released in the US (although you can buy it here for around 100 dolars online), but check out the reviews in european magazines/ezines and I think you'll be convinced.
