Hello everyone this is my first post here but I've been reading around trying to figure out what direction I want to go, I've been out of the computer component loop for a few years so bear with me. A few months back my GPU crapped out that had been running smoothly for years(e-GeForce 9800 GX2 SSC). Since I paid $600 at the time for that card I figured it would be silly to just stick another card in my system and go on when the rest of my system has aged. So I will post my current system, and I will post the system I have an idea of and anyone can make suggestions as to what you would do, please post links though!

Current Build running Windows XP Pro:

GPU: e-GeForce 9800 GX2 SSC - http://www.evga.com/articles/400.asp
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
RAM: Mushkin 2x1GB DDR2-800 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-M57SLI-S4 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
HDD: Western Digital WD Blue - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
DVD Drive: Pioneer 20X DVD±R DVD Burner - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Case: XCLIO Full Tower - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Monitor: Samsung 245BW - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 850W - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
ALT Monitor/TV: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004NB4TTA/ref=oh_deta...

I am trying to stay within a budget of $600 because I don't make much money being an airman in the USAF, unfortunately lol. ATM I plan to stick with this monitor until I can afford a better one(though it doesn't have HDMI or DisplayPort), stick with the PSU, stick with the case, for the time being stick with the HDD until later funds allow for a ssd, and finally stick with the DVD drive until I can afford a Bluray drive.

Possible Upgrade Build running Windows 7 Home 64:

GPU: Radeon HD 7950 3GB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
(I've always been an Nvidia fan, but this comes with 3 new free games and solid performance!)
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
(I've always stuck with AMD since they are cheap and seem to work decently)
RAM: Mushkin 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
MOBO: MSI 760GM-P34(FX) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Future Additions:
SDD: Kingston HyperX 120GB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

As I said can't wait to hear your input and suggestions on anything I should change/substitute as I want this computer to last a solid 2 years before another upgrade, I only have about $700 to make this upgrade.

Correct me If I'm wrong but the 965BE might bottleneck the 7950 in some games like BF3.
Get a FX6300 if you can and a better mobo since 760g chipsets aren't really that good. Get atleast a 880g or a 970 chipset mobo.
Get 1600mhz RAM instead of 1333 because they are almost the same price.
