Thinking of updating from a ATI Radeon HD 3400 to 6870, possible?

Hello, I'm thinking of updating from this:

(sorry, can't find a store page)
to this:

I have a PCI-Express x16 while the card I want uses PCI Express 2.1 x16.
Is it possible to upgrade?
Some Specs:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz(4 CPU), 2.3GHz
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 3400 series, PCI-Express x16

More about thinking updating radeon 3400 6870 possible
  1. At first tell me ur PCI express x16 ver.
  2. There won't be an issue. The PCI Express standards are backward compatible.
  3. Yes,I know.if motherboard has 1.1 PCI express x16 slot so.2.1 and 3.0 both graphic card will work.
    No,issue.ok.
  4. What power supply do you have? The 6870 uses considerably more power than a 3400. But that being said if your PSU meets the specifications listed on the XFX site it should be fine.

    the required specifications were
    External Power - 6-Pins: 2
    Minimum Power Supply Requirement:500 Watt
    * There will be an amps on the 12V rail requirement that you should look up in the manual before buying
  5. PCI Express® 2.0 from the webpage, and thanks for the info. I'll make sure to
check my PSU when I can.
