Hi:
I have a toshiba notebook computer( about 2 years old)
I have a pcmcia card install that have two
usb2 outputs. (the card bus is 32-bits)
One of the output I have go to a usb2 enclosure
with a hard drive in it.

My OS is Winxp.
I am using this external hard drive for my backup files.
In Winxp everything work fine.

What I need is a dos boot disk that can access the external
hard drive. Any ideas how I can find one?
Try doing a search on googles but no luck.
There is nothing in the cmoss about the PCMCIA card or externalHard Drive.

Any help would be appreciated
Thank you:
Ed

Your PC is only able to boot from an external USB hard drive if the BIOS
supports such a feature. Check your PC manual.

Hi:
I don't want to boot from the external hard drive.
All I want to do is to boot from a win98 boot disk
but be able to see the external hard drive from there.
I know to be able to do this I need some drivers for
the PCMCIA card and also the hard drive.
Thank for the reply:
Ed

Do you mean you want to boot from the 98 boot disk into Windows 98 or to
DOS?
Is "Enable USB for Legacy Devices" enabled in the BIOS?
Does the hard drive manufacturer have drivers for Windows98 and/or DOS at
their website... ditto for the PCMCIA card manufacturer?
Have you installed them in Windows98 if you are intending to boot into
Windows98?

At this point in time you should direct your question to a Windows98
hardware group..... it may not be possible to do what you want with your
motherboard unless you obtain the USB drivers for Windows98 ... and the 98
MVPs will know far more about this than the XP MVPs do.
