They are counting on the fact that you will forget to turn in the card.
That's what "rebates" are all about...

So I don't lose anything right? How do I return the rebate card that I got from Newegg?

Would it cause any problems if I want to return the item?

Yes, if you cutout the UPC on the box to send in the rebate, then you can only warranty the item through the manufacturer. If you did not cutout the UPC, then you can return it - rebate card you generally just print out.
