Gather the Parts

I just built my last computer 2 months ago, and I dislike most of it. I was planning on making it a 1 year computer anyways, and Haswell is coming out next spring. I figure I get a job after the first of the year and save up for my new one. I'd also like to gather some of the parts and put them in my current system so it will be less when the day comes. My parents (I'm only 15) would have an absolute fit if I told them I was planning on a new build for July-August, so getting a case now would be too obvious. I will invest heavily in the case, PSU, Optical Drive and Storage Drives. From what I have gathered, these seem to be the best investment.

Rosewill Blackhawk Ultra http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Seasonic M12II 750 watt http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

LG Blue Ray Burner http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... (It can burn DVDs and CDs too, right?)

2x2TB WD HDDs http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I chose these for certain reasons. The Blackhawk Ultra is huge, and I want to keep my case for 7-8 years. The 2x2TB HDDs equate to a ton of storage, which will last me maybe 6-7 years (I'll get an Intel 520 Series 180GB Cherryvile SSD as my boot drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...). SSD technology, unlike HDDs moves at a fast pace so investing in a large one would be a waste. The Blue Ray Burner is basically because I't make more sense than buying a DVD Drive because sooner or later DVDs are going to become like CDs, nearly extinct. PSU I'll want to have for 4 years, and might have a GTX x80 at some point. Could you tell me if it is a good model?

For the core components, investing in RAM would be pointless since DDR4 is coming 2014/15. I think 8GB 1600 of G. Skill Ripjaws should do the trick (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...). I will get a Haswell i5 K series with an aftermarket cooler and Z series motherboard to overclock it. Upgrade in 2015 for Skylake and DDR4. Video Card Wise, I think I might go for a GTX 660 Ti now and get the power supply with it since my current one is a terrible model. Keep the old parts and pop them back in when I get my new build. So do you think I have a good plan, or an awful one?

To me personally, I think it sounds like a good plan. I think the GT430 is crippling any gaming you may be doing and you'll will see vast improvements with an upgrade to a 660ti. I don't know about swapping the PSU as the Rosewill Green series was highly rated by HardwareSecrets (mostly due to value) but if you are actually looking to "invest" in a PSU, I might suggest going up a bit in budget (not in wattage, just budget) although I personally am a fan of all SeaSonic products - including the M12II's.

If your going to be using a case for that time-frame, you will want to account for every possibility. I dont see much water-cooling support on the Blackhawk. Though you could always get into a bit of case modding or externally mount some radiators.

Personally think that if your getting a Haswell chip, there's not much reason until Skymont to upgrade (The "tick" upgrade of Skylake). I dont intend to upgrade my Ivy Bridge until Skylake.

I would go for this Seagate Barracuda drive, same quality as the WD and a slight bit faster. $70 cheaper as well (WD havent dropped their prices since the flood).
Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM. $110

Only downside is a warranty period of 2yrs versus the WD's 5yrs. Though IMO, a hard drive will fail in the first three months or never, so its not a big issue for me.

Yeah originally it was for a computer with 4GB DDR2 and a Core 2 Duo e4440 @2GHz. I was supposed to get a 7770 but my budget got slashed so I had to settle with my old GT 430. And The FX 4100 is near the end of it's lifespan, so an i5 would work wonderfully. Even a GTX 650 Ti might work for me. I expect my budget to be somewhere around $1600, and currently It's up to $1100. That's $500 for the CPU, mobo, and cooling system. $230 i5, $130 Z series mobo, and good a cooler. I have some MX-4 in my desk so I'm set on that. That leaves maybe $100 left I could spend on a better SSD maybe?

I'm a performance junkie though lol. The Blackhawk Ultra is huge, in fact probably the biggest case on newegg. Though it does have tons of fans the Blackhawk Ultra, I don't see how it would be too small for water cooling.

I can't find a better Seasonic PSU on newegg that is 750 watts though.

I take back what I said. Just looked up a review on it and will support a ton of radiators. A 360mm at the top, 2x 240mm and a 120mm.

And from the look of this build in it.

Plenty of space to mount a pump and reservoir at the bottom

EDIT:
A better 750W Seasonic.

Its out of stock, but on the time frame you will be buying these components on I don't think that will be an issue.

You must've been thinking of the blackhawk. This is it's big brother.
