660 ti vs 7950

Hello,

so im thinking of upgrading to either of these two cards. i have a gift card to a local shop near me so im definetly going to purchace it from there. currently the cards are around a 100$ difference.

im going to be running a tripple monitor setup (i never plan on using all three for gaming, so none of that nvidia surround or whatever AMD uses) and the gaming monitor is a 1080p resolution.

any suggestions??

More about 7950
  1. Buy whatever is cheaper if there's a $100 difference between the two. There is absolutely no reason to buy a 660ti if the 7950 is $100 cheaper and there's no reason to buy the 7950 if the 660ti is $100 cheaper.
  2. Tom's hardware benchmarks suggest an advantage to the 7950. Especially when MSAA is turned on.

  4. The HD 7950 is just better than the GTX 660 Ti especially in high resolution gaming. The thing is there is around 20$ difference between the two currently. If the HD 7950 is 100$ more expensive you should definetly buy the GTX 660 Ti instead.

If the 7950 is $100 more expensive, then you should consider the 7870 or the non-TI 660 because both are cheaper than the 660 Ti and the 660 has similar performance whereas the 7870 has sometimes better and sometimes worse performance (is overall more consistent and has much higher overclocking headroom too). Also, even at 1080p, the 7950 with some good AA will usually beat the 660 Ti.
