Issues with my old nvidiageforce 8500gt video card 512mb

For some reason my computer has stopped recognizing my nvidia geforce 8500gt 512mb video card, when i turn on the computer the graphic resolution is low and can't be raised up, the colors in the background are 4 bit and look messed up, is the video card destroyed and needs a replacement?
its plugged in properly but it just won't be recognized even when you go to control panel its got the yellow triangle with the exclamation mark

whenever control panel displays that icon next to a device, means it is have a hardware level issue that windows detected and disabled the device to prevent any damages to the system, so it appears the video card is dead. if you dont have the cash to replace it you could always try the old bake the video card trick, but no promises that it will actually work.
