PSU for GTX 660Ti SLI?

Hi, first off im a noob as this is my first build so please no yelling :).

Im building a new system and i am planning on doing GTX 660 Ti 2-way SLI maybe a year later, and i have a hard time figuring out what kind of PSU do I need.

So assume I am doing:

i5-3570k @ 4.4 GHz
MSI OC GeForce 660Ti 2-way SLI. 1920X1080
Kingston 16GB (2X8GB) DDR3 1600

MSI Z77A-G45 LGA 1155 Intel Z77
or
ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel Z77

I had some people suggesting 700W is a overkill, but I think I didnt mention about the 2-way SLI build. Anyway Please comment.

Thanks a million

  1. 700w would be fine, you might also want to look at the 7870 and 7950.
  2. I never recommend dual cards over a the fastest single gpu you can afford. They still have issues. I would ditch the sli for a 7970 GHZ. I recommend this power supply by Seasonic: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151106 either way, it will run the SLI if you go that route.

That won't be as powerful. But it still might be a better idea as it will leave more room in the future, and if you need more than a 7970 I have some questions for you.

    EXACTLY

and especially for the OP's first build...avoid SLI like it was a plague rat
  5. Here is Guru3Ds power supply recommendation:

GeForce GTX 660 Ti - On your average system the card requires you to have a 450~500 Watt power supply unit.
GeForce GTX 660 Ti SLI - On your average system the cards require you to have a 700 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

If you are going to overclock GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with some more stamina. Source - http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_geforce_gtx_660_ti_power_editon_oc_review,7.html I run two 670 in sli no issues though it's true sometimes people have issues with dual card set up. As for power supply i recommend http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182073
