660 or 670

been looking at a few benchmarks online and the 660 is only like 5-10 fps slower than the 670 on most games but the price difference is 180 bucks for the 660 and 100 bucks for the ti (compairing both from asus)

my question is since its so easy to overclock with afterburner (just slide the bars and watch furmark) ill be overclocking my card.

how many fps increases could i see from either card doing this and what your opinions on the two where. (will be in a z77 board with a 3770 cpu)

  1. MSI's GTX 670 Power Edition uses the famous Twin Frozr IV cooler from the MSI Lightning and comes with a large clock speed boost out of the box, making its default clock speed even higher than GTX 680 stock clocks. MSI is asking a $30 price premium for their card, which doesn't look unreasonable, given the improved cooling and higher clocks. http://www.overclock.net/t/1265110/the-gtx-670-overclocking-master-guide#post_17391118 Try this tutorial, it goes over EVERYTHING needed for GTX 670 overclocking, and takes into account that each chip is different.
  2. bigcyco1 beat me to it. What you need to remember is that the cards you are seeing are factory overclocked and compared against a reference 670. So keep in mind its all relative. The Power edition 670, and a couple of others are only 5-10% slower than the reference 680. So it really depends on your situation, what you want from it, and your budget.
  3. gtx 670 is far better dude don't read commercial biased reviews ,, check tom's reviews and you will see that the gtx 670 even on stock is better than the oced gtx 660 or 660 ti .. we are comparing high to lower end gpus here!
  4. ^^ agreed, the 670 is a very good card.
  5. GTX 670 no doubt.
