Any chance to upgrade?

Got a old computer i got at beast buy a few years ago iam looking to upgrade (and have parts to build a new one down the line) i just built my own gaming pc for around $1200 so this will be for my GF mostly just to play mmo's Aion,Gw2 , FF a realm reborn .

what iam wondering is if i can just get a new case,psu,and video card and that the cpu will last untill maybe next year when i can get a i5, new mobo and ram.

so mainly i wanna upgrade now and then use those parts later to make a new build.

right now i can get 30fps on the lowest settings on gw2 and aion.

You can definitely add the new case , psu and graphics card

but Im picking you wont see anywhere near the gains from the graphics card as you shoud because the Phenom 1 processor is not very powerful

Have you considered getting an AMD APU /mb and ram as an upgrade instead?

and even without a graphics card its going to be much more powerful that the current system and it should even run on the current power supply [ assuming you have the right connectors ]

the reason for using the lovo Kingston RAM is that you can set it manually to 1.5 volts and then set the speed to 1866 Mhz which helps the graphics performance of the AMD APU

Thats the graphics built in to the chip . You can also add a graphics card for more performance later . You can even add some Radeon cards and crossfire with the APU

How does the amd a10-5800k compare to a i5 2500k or the bulldozer amd cpu's i havent seen much about it . i went with the i5 2500k with the one i built. ill have to look more into it but it seems like a decent idea money wise.

i still want something that will be strong later down the road also.

the A10 is a quadcore bulldozer with a graphics core attached .

Over all its a little more powerful than the intel dual cores , but has an advantage of the extra threading in encoding

Here's what I would do....

assuming you are playing on a 1080p monitor, i would go ahead and get an HD 7850 (or 7770 if you're playing at a lower resolution), a new PSU, and keep your CPU. Find out if the CPU is too much of bottleneck, then make your decision about getting a new CPU and motherboard. You're going to get a new GPU and PSU anyway, you might as well see if you can squeak by with your current CPU for another year.
