Gigabyte gtx670 problem

Hello!

I have bought a gigabyte gtx670 OC-ed version, and I'm extremely satisfied. Most of the time.

I'm using the latest stable drivers.

The card mostly delivers outstanding performance, maxing out battlefield 3 at 1920x1080p all ultra, constantly 60+ FPS. Respectable.

But, if I play games like Dota2 or Need For Speed (World, Run or even Carbon!!!), I can see that the graphics uses 100% of it's power, is autoclocked to 1110HZ, and delivers somewhat around 30FPS. That is ridiculous. Neither of those games (except the run, which causes minimal issues) cannot compare with battlefield 3 in terms of hardware requirements, and yet the results are missing.

In Need For Speed World, I can play on max settings without breaing a sweat. Then, after a few races, the card starts to bug, and I have to change the settings to medium, wait a few seconds, and change them back to max. Then everything works fine.

In Dota 2 there is another issue. When I start the game, and enter the main menu, everything is fine. In a match, everything is fine. But the main menu between matches is 5FPS. FIVE! And it's again 1110HZ, 99% usage. I'm sorry, but that's not acceptable.

If I can CONSTANTLY (more than 6 hours in a row) max out battlefield 3, why can't I max out something like Dota 2 or even 6 year old CARBON!?

I don't know if it's the problem concerning drivers, or I'm making some kind of a mistake. Can you please help me?

Thank you.

P.S. PC specs:

GPU: Gigabyte gtx670 oc edition
CPU: Intel core 2 quad Q6600 @2.40 GHZ (overclocked to 3.00 GHZ) cooled by Cooler Master evo 212
RAM: 2x 4GB Patriot DDR3 @ 1333
MB: MSI G41M-P28
PSU: Seasonic 650W modular
1 regular 320GB HDD
1 CD-DVD reader/writer
Cooler Master HAF 912+ case

Sounds like a driver issue, have you tried an older driver?

Thanks for the fast reply.

I have used 301.smth (until it was the newest, and I had the issues).

A few days back, I was delighted to see that there is a new driver, and I updated to 306.smth: the latest. But I still have the same problem...

What do you suggest, that I go for 2xx drivers?

No I just thought maybe it was a problem with the latest driver.

What cpu are you using?

I'll write you complete specs:

GPU: Gigabyte gtx670 oc edition
CPU: Intel core 2 quad Q6600 @2.40 GHZ (overclocked to 3.00 GHZ) cooled by Cooler Master evo 212
RAM: 2x 4GB Patriot DDR3 @ 1333

1 CD-DVD reader/writer
Cooler Master HAF 912+ case

Now I know what you are going to say: your cpu is old, it's bottlenecking the card. Yes it is old, and yes, maybe it's bottlenecking the GPU. but if I can max out battlefield, with frames around 60 all the time on all ultra (even antialiasing and stuff), why can't it max out carbon and dota2??? It's completely absurd?

I don't think there is much bottleneck, maybe a little.

I don't know why your having these issues. Have you checked to see if there are any patches for those games for the problems your having?

Battlefield 3, Dota 2 and Need For Speed World patch themselves automatically. You cannot play the version the is not the latest.

As for the run, it's not causing too much issues anyway...

Have you checked the nvidia forum for people with similiar issues.

It may be something known that will be addressed in a future driver release.

I know AMD's latest Beta driver shows pretty hefty perfromance increases in a variety of games:

Performance highlights of AMD Catalyst 12.7 Beta

Up to 25% Skyrim
Up to 6% in Crysis 2
Up to 20% in Total War: Shogun 2
Up to 3.3% in Battlefield 3
Up to 6.9% In 3DMark™ 11
Up to 4.8% in Aliens vs. Predator
Up to 6.5% in Batman: Arkham City
Up to 8% in Crysis Warhead
Up to 7.2% in F1 2010
Up to 8% in Just Cause 2
Up to 12% in Wolfenstein MP
