New Server Project

Basically here is what I need to do:

Host OS: Server 2008 R2 Standard
Roles: Primary: IIS/SharePoint Server
Secondary: Microsoft Hyper-V Host w/ ~3-4 running VMs at any given time, 2-3 GB RAM per VM

5 TB or larger RAID 5 or RAID 10 array for storage.

Development Environment so I just need some relatively cheap hardware.

I have Operating systems and software already. Just looking for suggestions on hardware. I also do not need keyboard mouse or display.

How cheap? Give us a budget.

Just about any motherboard that:

1) Had drivers for MS Server 2008
2) Accepts a Quad-core CPU compatible with virtualization
3) Accepts at least 16 GB of RAM

should work out for you.

I built mine several years ago, using a Gigabyte GA-EP43-UD3L motherboard, Intel Core2Quad Q8400 processor, and 8GB of RAM (wanted 16 but DDR2 RAM was too expensive then).
