Hello everyone. The title pretty much says it all. I can get one of these two cards for my new build around Christmas. The HD6950 is a bit more expensive (about 10 euros) but that is acceptable. The parts which I will be able to afford are these:

CoolerMaster HAF 912
Asrock 970 PRO3
AMD Phenom II 965 (CoolerMaster Hyper TX3 to cool it)
2x4GB Kingston DDR3 1333Mhz RAM
Corsair 600W PSU with a 6+2 pin and a 6pin Power Connector.
1TB Hitachi 7200RPM 32MB Cache HDD ( I already have this Hard Drive)
HD7850 2GB / HD6950 1GB

So which of these two cards excels in games like Battlefield 3, since this game is pretty much the reason I want to change my crappy rig.

Hi.

The 6950 is crippled by the 1G VRam. Around Christmas ( prices are dropping ) the price of the 7870 will be even lower than what you pay now for the 6950/7850.

A Radeon 7850 will have a significant lead on the Radeon 6950. A Radeon 7870 will have a significant lead on the Radeon 7850. There's also the VRAM capacity argument that I agree with; 1GiB of VRAM capacity is not enough for high-end cards these days.

Ah, Okay I hadn't really thought they would drop low enough. There was a 2GB version but it's just way too expensive compared to the 7850. Thanks.
