A couple things to note, if you get a desktop of the same price as a laptop then the desktop will most likely get better performance, if you need the mobility get a laptop but otherwise look into desktops.
Second, so called gaming laptops have a very low battery life meaning most of the time it will have to be plugged in.
Third, they will need a desk you will burn a hole in your pants :p.

Ok onto that specific laptop. The i7 cpu is great, the ram is fine. The HDD (Hard drive) is perfectly fine has more than enough storage. The gpu is where we run into problems, it's a bit weak it can run most game on medium setting @ about 40 fps and that is just the games you are playing.

If you have a higher budget here is my recommendation: Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 (59345715) Notebook Intel Core i7 3630QM(2.40GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory 750GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834310660
A couple things to note about this the gnu can run most games maxed above 40 fps which is great! You will get a better processor as well. The laptop is 900$ (200$ difference) But well worth the performance boost.

Again if you need the mobility stick w/a laptop but if you don't need mobility get a desktop.

Also don't upgrade to windows 8 it hardly makes a difference the metro interface isn't that good if it comes with 8 deal with it but if it comes with 7 keep it.

If you want to learn more about comp parts etc. send me a message or 2.

you may consider MSI G Series GT70 0NE-276US Laptop,someone recommended it to me before,17.3-inch FHD,Intel Core i7-3610QM (2.3GHz),750GB 7200RPM + 128G SSD, NVIDIA GTX 680M 2G GDDR5 ,and the price is affordable,a good choice for enjoying the game,more you can see here:http://gaminglaptophome.com/best-gaming-laptop-comparison/
