More about good budget system
  1. :non: Its a pretty good system, jut don't go for AMD graphics cards that's a big no no lol. Nvidia cards are supperior in all ways. :bounce:
  2. That's fine. and you don't need a 3rd party cpu cooler (since you can't overclock the cpu on that motherboard)

and you can throw that money towards a better gpu (you can probably get a 7870 ghz edition).

And AMD right now is usually better price/performance than Nvidia. their drivers are no longer shitty lol.
  3. well i have tht cpu cooler and may i ask how long will this system last
  4. If you are on a tight budget consider that your video card is far more than you would need for your monitor resolution.

A 7770 or a 560Ti would still be overkill. Do you need ram and a HD?

he might as well get it.... it would make his computer at least futureproof and upgradable later on (he would just upgrade to a quad core later)
  7. Skip cooler master tx3 evo. You're not overclocking so you don't need it.

Get the 660. You might want to up your i3 to a little better one though. Everything else should perform great.

don't bother (unless you got like a extra $70)

the i3 would run games fine at your resolution.

next step up would be a i5 3550.
  10. or should a go for a fx 4300

Your motherboard doesn't support it. you'll need a new motherboard if you go with a fx 4300.

but gaming wise, the i3 will be better (on most games)
  12. skitz9417 said:

why would you take a step backwards?
  13. i though the fx 4300 trades blows with the i3s

not with a card higher than an entry level gpu (above a 7770); once you get a bigger card the i3 pulls away.
  15. so with my res will the hd 7850 be ok and will be ok in these games gta4,battlefiled 3
    l4d2 sleeping dogs
  16. so a hd 7770 be ok for 1280x1024
  17. yes. unless you want high details in every/any game while getting 60+ fps.

To ivy bridge. i3-3220. Only $5 more. More efficient and slightly faster.

Also 7850 would be fine for gaming, just don't expect Ultra or High settings for all games at your 1024p.
  19. nah i dont use much of the eye candy and i all ready have the i3 2120
  20. if you don't already own the mobo you can get the fx 6300 and a decent $60 mobo.
  21. i do own it with an i3 2120
  22. going back to your OP

if you can get the 660 that would be great for gaming on a larger (1080) screen when/if you upgrade. but the 7850 would be enough for what you have now (1024).
just get some 1600 ram you you will be good to go . . . well, what PSU are you using?
  23. 600w psu
  24. well, i'll spare you the "quality" PSU speech.

you're set as far as power; no graphics card with an i3 will need more power than that.
  25. like what

    like ANY

here is a list of recommendations:
POWER SUPPLY REQUIREMENT FOR GRAPHICS CARDS

considering the requirements are listed for total system power and a 65 watt i3 is less than most any other cpu even the GTX 690, whose suggestion is 620, will work. but there maybe a problem with it needing two 8 pin PCI power connections.
  27. What are the prices for the 7850 or 660? Personally, I'd rather buy the 660.

    The 2120 is fine.
  28. 199- hd 7850 or 229-gtx 660

Can't go wrong with either choice. If an extra $30 is ok, then get the 660. IG you want to stay under $200, then 7850.
  30. hi guys i went for hd 6950 for 125 dollars on gumtree

Nicely done. 6950 is like 7850 in a lot of games. What brand did you get? I assume it was new, right?
  32. asus yea it is

Is it the 1gb or 2gb? It must be the 2gb. Should be fun.
  34. nah 1gb
  35. and i found a i5 2400 cpuwould tht be a decent upgrade for my i3

Your gonna love your new system. Just don't play it too much or the girlfriend will start bitching.
I suggest buying her a iPad. That helped to keep her quiet when I play.
  37. i dont have a girlfreind and i have the i3 but i want to get a i5 2400

I just meant that with your new system you will be playing on it a lot more. Enjoy.
