Hello everyone. I have the following 5 year old setup
core 2 duo E6750 @ 2.66 Mhz(stock speed)
4 gb ram ddr2
mobo p5k(p35)
gpu 8800 GTX 768 mb.

is it worth it to upgrade to an evga 460 gtx 1mb( a friend of mine is selling one to me for 100€)? Will i also need to change my cpu to see any difference? Right now i can only spare money for the gpu. Or is it best to spend the money on a new cpu and get a better gpu later? Getting a new setup is not an option btw.

I forgot to mention that I 'm using 1650x1050 resolution. Thats my monitors max.
So I guess the best option is to upgrade the gpu and overclock the cpu?

460 should fit nicely with your res. but you have to oc your cpu for sure. from my personal experiance my e7500 at stock (2.93ghz) did bottleneck the card. in some cases i got lower performance compared to my old gts250 but for games that are gpu intensive like crysis the card perform just as it should be.

vantage or 11? honestly i dont remember and i'm not using my computer right now.did you ask graphic score only or final score? but i do remember the score for my previous setup though which is around 2900 for 3dmark11. (3.6ghz E7500 + gtx460 @775mhz core clock)

1ghz 560ti 448 cores, me beats gtx 580! :pt1cable:

Ouch that makes my score look terrible. I might have to get another 460.

And your 2600K is clocked higher than mine. I might have to start overclocking again to see what kind of scores I can get.

I think the only upgrade I would do at this point though is add another 460 for cheap. It would work with the power supply and I don't want to spend very much. My cousin will probably get rid of his eventually.

I used to get close to 6k with my 6950 in here. Wish I still had it in here.

Neat but zip ties well yuck :s
I moved from zip ties to using steel wire and it does the job very well. ;)

I had that card for a while, and then in 2010 (I think) I upgraded to the 460 GTX 768mb version which I sold on ebay for $70 2 weeks ago. It's tough to say how your CPU will handle it, it'll probably bottle neck but I can't see it being perceptible. One thing I will say is that that GTX 460 has been the best overclockable card I have ever owned, by far.
