Best Intel CPU for $150-$200

I'm building a new computer and I don't know which processor to choose. I personally prefer AMD over Intel but I do want the best for the price. I'm mostly going to be just doing general stuff and a lot of Web surfing, but I run a lot of programs at once too and I'm thinking about gaming in the future. I was going to go with the FX-8350 but I'm wondering if there's an Intel CPU that outperforms it around the same price. The motherboard I was going to go with was the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3. What is a good match for that around the same price ($124.62). So I'm looking for a combo that's better for at or below that price.

  1. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116506
    Will easily outperform your pick.
There are other I-5's for a little less, but your parameters were $150-$200 and this is what I would go for.
  2. if you live near a microcenter, get the i5 3570k. They sell it only for $170. You also get $40 off a mobo if you buy it.

I forgot to mention overclocking, that CPU isn't unlocked is it?

    I wish haha.
  5. Wow, that's a hell of a deal. Wish I had one near buy. I say the 3470 i5, it just squeezes into your budget. For a motherboard, I like ASRock boards, so I suggest this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157296.

It won't let me open the link. I really like Gigabyte buy they're ridiculous for Intel Processors, I may go a little over budget and get the i5 3570k, is it really a lot better.
  7. I think I may just go with the i5 3570k and a Gigabyte board, and get a cheaper Video Card. I'm not gaming so is there really a need for a high end card?
