1st build, won't start up

hi there,
my new mini-itx build has one key problem... i tried to turn it on, and it just starts up the psu fan, and then when i let go of the button, the fan turns off. no boot up screen, no evidence of any pieces doing their jobs... any ideas? please respond asap, i am in crisis mode!

okay, I tried all of the suggested troubleshooting techniques and none were successful... the CPU fan and the psu fan start up, and spin fine, and the HDD led light is on, but the Hard drive isn't spinning, and it doesn't boot. any ideas?
