I have a question, i just got my new computer, and i still have alot of stuff on the old harddrive, too much to burn to a cd and copy, so can i slave my old hard drive to my new one, and coppy my files over to it, or will that work, and do you have to have any special software.

">>and do you have to have any special software.<<"

Yes, you have to have special software; it is called OS, which will copy all your files from any one drive to any other drive.

..this is very useful and helpful place for information...

If you just slave your old drive to a new system it may not be too happy. Old OS on the drive and so on. Whats more its alwys good to do a fresh start.

I have a couple of 10/100 NICs and a crossover cable. This is a good way to get the data across.

What start? The guy is asking if its ok to move old stuff to a new drive, what kind of "fresh start" can be there? Just slave the thing and copy whatever you wish, OS does not care what's on the other drives, its like dual boot thing, you boot into secondary partition and you can format your boot partition from it and OS will not even ask anything, it's just you wont be able to boot any more ;)
