decided to go with a 7950 thanks to help the other day, but before i order and spend 300+$ i just wanna get more help lol so... pretty much between MSI and Gigabyte 7950's from newegg. dunno which is a better overclocker, have 6x sickleflow fans in my case so im not very worried about a little noise from the gpu.

Gigabyte:

I highly recommend you have a look at these three too -

Sapphire, imo, is the best Radeon Card manufacturer in the market - Excellent support, mind-blowing overclocking capability, amaaaaaaaaaaazing quality.

I recommend getting the Sapphire, and if that isn't available, then go for the Asus (Highest clock speeds) and if that isn't available too - Get Gigabyte one you specified. :)

If you intend to overclock skip the Asus card. It's cooler is so bad that everything but the GPU overheats in that card.

In my opinion the best HD 7950 out there currently is the Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

But if somehow you can't fit it in you case , just go for the Dual-X version

It's cooler isn't as good as the Vapor-X but it's still among the best.

was looking at the vapor-x but some are saying they get cards with locked voltage which doesnt allow them to overclock very high? if you can overclock them that high with their gpu coolers? another says if you have issues getting support or anything from sapphire is nearly impossible? idk if its true or not...

I don't really get why everyone is singing the praises of the vapor-x 7950, check out this massive thread where many people report having a voltage locked vapor-x 7950, which is incredibly disappointing and unacceptable of Sapphire.

Please let us know how you get on with your one. Hopefully this thread won't be closed, but if it is, PM me about it please.

It's because of price and performance some cards have issues it's always a gamble no matter what card you go with a 7950 is a solid card granted i do know there a few on this forum that sip there red/green kool aid a bit to much though   you half to ignore the stupidity behind it ;)

My bad, meant to emphasize why I didn't get why the vapor-x in particular was getting so many recommendations. I too was going to buy one, or maybe a vapor-x 7970. But apparently a ton of people are getting voltage locked ones, which really sucks and limits its overclocking potential.

I'm not sure if 7950s of all brands are commonly voltage locked now, but it seems to be especially problematic with the vapor-x at the moment.

hmmm...I have not heard to much about it but my neighbor three doors down from me has the 7950 vapor-x it has no coil whine is very quiet and overclocks like a beast i used it for almost a week when i was house sitting for him that's how i know   I have noticed allot of 7950/7970 have horrible coil whine and i am not sure about all the 7950/7970 i can only go by what professional reliable legit review sites say and my own personal experience i don't listen to newegg reviews and stuff like that because i see no proof of the things people claim so i take them as possible truth but without proof blanket statements
