Hello everyone!

I'm currently on a decent AMD Gaming build, but wish to upgrade to get better FPS in my games (BF3, Arma 2 [dayz], Skyrim). I will post my correct build below and if anyone could suggest a good upgrade, for my GPU mostly, it would be nice!

Thanks!

Build:

Motherboard: MSI 870A-G54 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard [DISCONTINUED]
CPU: AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1090T Processor 3.2 GHz
GPU: Radeon HD 6850 1GB
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

Yes that is my current build. My PSU is 550W Antec 80Plus. My budget for the GPU is max of $300. I'm fine with everything else I have except for my GPU.

So what ? you have a PCI 2.0 which is perfectly compatible with any gfx card pci 3.0, and the performance will be the same, hell even with the 690gtx on you wouldn't see any performance loss compared with a board with pci 3.0
Just check if your psu is from a decent brand and has 550w.

Neither do I and I run a GTX680. It is backward compatible. Those cards will not come close to saturating the bandwidth of a PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot.

I should also ask which Antec 550w PSU you have. I am sure it is fine, but always good to double check.

Hey man! Thanks for all the help! I had no idea the GTX670 was a backwards compatible card with 2.0 buses. That's pretty awesome.Do all 3.0 cards run fine in the standard 2.0 x16 slot? Also, I'm really not sure what kind of Antec PSU I have because the label is up against the inside of the case making it impossible to read unless I take it out. I think I may turn to the dark side and switch to NVIDIA :sol: :sol:

Edit: Just took a look at those links they are above $300 now. Did I miss a sale or something?
