Horizontal faint lines on monitor

Hi all,
My config is as follows:-
i5-3570k proc.,
Asus p8-z77 Mobo,
8gb ddr3 ram(1600) Gskill ripjawsX,
nvidia gtx 560 2gb gddr5 gpu,
500 watt psu,
LED monitor,
An old seagate 80 gb hdd may be i bought it in year 2006.
I have multiple problems:-
A) My prob. is whenever i try to play Recent games at high resolution many faded horizontal lines appear on my screen. my friend told me there may be 3 reasons:-
1) Graphic drivers are not updated which is true,
2) I'm using vga cable instead of DVI or HDMI which is also true
3) may be my gpu is damaged which i don't think so.
B) Whenever i try to play GTA-4, it runs awesome at 1920 x 1080 res. at 60hz, but after sometime the game forcecloses or sometimes pc restarts. May be it is due to old gpu drivers or gpu H/W problem or i'll 've to update the game's patch since i installed the game from original CD.

Let it be, i got the solution.
For question A the answer is :- Instead of VGA cable i must use DVI or HDMI cable.
For question B, i downloaded latest patch and the game runs awesome at full res. No probs. I'm happy
