Hey,
I have a hercules game theater XP and im having some troubles with it. It causes my comp to freeze constantly. Its the same problem that the via chipsets have with some creative cards, whenever i have alot of IDE activity it will freeze. I have all the latest drivers, 3.02 for my sound card, 4.35 of the 4in1's, and the latest bios. Do any of you have any idea on what i can do?

Heres my system specs:
1.4ghz athln tbird
Shuttle AK31 v3
512meg crucial pc2100
40gig WD hard drive
32meg radeon
hercules game theater XP

That Shuttle is the KT266 chipset, right?

What PCI slot do you have the GTXP in? What BIOS settings do you have for Plug-N-Play OS?

What other devices do you have sharing the same IRQ? Any?

My suspicion is that another card/device in your system is conflicting with it. Could also be a problem with the Southbridge on your motherboard. Are you having any other problems with your computer?

Oh boy, VIA said that was Creative's fault! OK, try setting it back to NO in BIOS and reserving IRQ5 (for SB emulation). You may have to change slots.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

Heres whats goin on in my irqs:
0 System timer
1 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard
2 Programmable interrupt controller
3 Hercules Game Theater(tm) XP 6.1 Game Device
3 Communications Port (COM2)
4 Communications Port (COM1)
5 RADEON 7200/RADEON
5 Hercules Game Theater(tm) XP 6.1 PCI Audio Accelerator
5 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
6 Standard Floppy Disk Controller
7 Printer Port (LPT1)
8 System CMOS/real time clock
9 SCI IRQ used by ACPI bus
10 MPU-401 Compatible
11 VIA Tech 3038 PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
11 VIA Tech 3038 PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
11 SUP2750 PCI Modem Enumerator
11 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
11 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering

12 PS/2 Compatible Mouse Port
13 Numeric data processor
14 Primary IDE controller (dual fifo)
14 VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Controller
15 Secondary IDE controller (dual fifo)
15 VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Controller

I had the sound card in the 3rd slot and it was in he 11th irq an di have the same problems with it in the 2nd pci slot and the 5h irq. I have no troubles with the rest of my comp...it was running trouble free without the card. Until i put it in. See i bought the card 2 weeks ago and i h ad the problem from get go so i thought it was faulty so i sent it back and got a new one and the new one has the same problem.

I used to be with it, but now what im with isnt it and what is it is wierd and scary to me -abe

If you're not using COM2, disable it. Maybe it doesn't like sharing, for some reason.

I have COM1 and COM2 disabled, i have no need for them but it keeps it in the irqs by itself...

I reserved irq5 in the bios and it threw the GTXP's joystick controller in there...and threw the vid card and the audio accelerator into 11..heres whats goin on:
0 System timer
1 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard
2 Programmable interrupt controller
3 Communications Port (COM2)
4 Communications Port (COM1)
5 Hercules Game Theater(tm) XP 6.1 Game Device

Is there a way to tell what goin in each irq qith disabling ADPI?
