So this is the first PC I've ever built so I wanna make sure i make the correct choice so i don't blow any money or buy something that is compatible. Any help that you guys can provide will be greatly appreciated! :sol:

The first I was going to go with a combo buy of my MOBO and CPU

CPU = I3-3225
MOBO = ASRock Z77M

link to combo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...)

PSU = RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-530SS 530W

link (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...)

RAM = CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 40$

CASE = NZXT Guardian ATX Mid Tower

Okay so I was going to save a couple bucks and use the old HDD from my other laptop its only like 250GB-500GB don't remember, will this be all right?

Also lastly I was considering putting extra money into my GPU instead of getting an I5-2500k because i think ill just upgrade later in the year (2013) these were the 3 GPUs i was looking at, I don't really understand the difference among the variations of E.G. gtx 660ti and the HD 7870s can anyone explain please? Also will this mid tower fit all this, i know its supposed to be a smaller MOBO so I'm not too worried.

URL for the 3 GPUs (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submi...)

Do you all think I'm getting the best bang for my buck? i think everything should total around $560ish

Thanks again for all the help!

I would not recommend re-using an old hard drive that could contain viruses (even after you re-format it). Hard Drives are not expensive so I would buy a new one unless your budget is extremely low.

You might also want to buy the better i5 processor now and upgrade to a better videocard later rather than doing it the other way around.

What is your budget for the new computer?

Thanks for the reply, do you think i could just use an external hard drive for the time being then? Around 600$ Tops $700

What do I gain from doing it the opposite way? I was looking at it in the sense that if I got the i5 first i would need to buy an extra cooling fan and a better PSU since I would most likely overclock it, oh and would OC make my graphics card run better than too or would it need OC capabilities like the CPU
