I need some advice on my new build. I want to use a 30 inch 2560x1600 monitor, but I've never used anything larger than 23 inches at 1920x1080...so no hands on experience there. I'm going 3 way sli with 680's, but I don't know which version to get. Some say 3 2GB 680's can handle 2560x1600, some say it they can't. I've researched it, but I'm at a loss. I have all the parts except the monitor and two more 680's, so the build is pretty much set in stone. I have a 2GB 680 in my current system and was hoping to just buy 2 more. So here's the question, am I good to just get 2 more 2GB 680's, or do I need to suck it up and get the 4GB 680's? I'm not wondering which is better, just if the 2GB version will work. I know most games don't use the full 2GB, but its getting close in a few cases. I'll have these cards for a few years for sure.

Please let me know if anyone has any experience with this. I'd appreciate the advice. Thanks.

the 2gb versions will be fine...If I were you I would save myself some money and not bother with the third card...tri sli is not worth it IMO....the performance gain you get out of the third card will not justify $500.....just stick with two 2gb gtx 680's that way you only have to put $500 down for another 2gb 680 vs. buying 3 new 4gb 680s for $600 a piece making it $1800..yikes
