I remember a text, written I believe by Achili, which was a sarcastic
answer to people believing that rpg are too expensive, rpg designers
are too rich.

Does anybody know where it is ?

It's written by Darren MacLennan, though it /mentions/ Justin Achilli
(and R. Sean Borgstrom shooting a man just to watch him die, I believe),
and it's hosted on RPG.net.

Sorry, I don't have the link. If you pop into RPG.net open and ask
there, somebody will give it to you.

Given the way RPGNet is being run at the moment, I'd have to guess
that the moderators rolled him on the Random Banning Table.

He's been banned since he signed up. It may have something to do with
his ISP. He can't even view Trouble Tickets.

I've tried to get the problem solved, but the staff hasn't responded.

While I admit that I do not always find their choices of who to ban and
why to be agreeable, I do think that they usually do it with reason.

Justin's just unhappy about them banning him for refusing to stop making
personal attacks.

Ah, sounds like an IP ban.

Funky. Maybe we can blame Bloke.

That may be true. But since their recent reasons have included "you
annoy me", "I don't like your politics", "you dared to question the
mighty moderators", "you associate with someone that we don't like",
"we screwed up and banned you by mistake, but we might as well ban you
permanently", and "you started a thread discussing a particular
roleplaying game that we don't like" I'm not sure that there's really
that much of a distinction.

There's a reason I pulled my reviews from the site. It's become
something I'm not particularly comfortable associating with.

Whatever the reasons they had for banning Justin, I was never really
happy with Curt's banning (although he's back, and he admits he pushed
things a bit far with the expectation that he'd be banned).

I wasn't involved on any level when Justin was banned, either. I was
sort of personally involved when Curt was, also. So...different
situations.

Far too much to go into. Banning Bloke = a win, for example, as with
that guy who, er, baited people. I can't remember his name. OTOH, a
banning or two came from a direction I didn't agree with.

Er, wait, I didn't realize what this Lady Chatterly was until reading

Much as I am loathe to agree with Bacon about much, I note that they
did, in fact, ban someone for criticizing moderation this week.

I noticed that too. On the face of it, IIRC, that person was also being
a generally disruptive ass, but in hindsight it is kinda troubling.

OTOH, I started up a 10 page "criticize the moderators" thread a month
or two ago and nothing came of it. I was polite about it, though. I
suppose Justin would say I phrase my criticism in the form of ass-kissing.

I haven't seen any of those bannings. That's not me saying "those never
happened." Lots of people I trust have become increasingly uncomfortable
with the moderation. I'm just saying, they didn't happen when I was
looking. Could you direct me to more information?

Oh, Jebus. Criticizing the moderation is a site pastime.

They haven't banned me yet. This is clearly an absolute farce, so I have
taken matters into my own hands and NOT POSTED for the last three days.
That'll show them who's boss!

GMS has a new RPG coming out. GMS has been banned from RPGNet. Every
time a thread was started about GMS' game the moderators removed it
from the boards, citing the non-existent "rule" that people have been
banned on RPGNet shouldn't be getting "free press" on the site. When
last I was paying attention to RPGNet, the moderators were threatening
to ban anyone starting a thread about the game. There was a brouhaha
in Trouble Tickets about the same time I was asking for my reviews to
be pulled.
