What is the difference between these HDDs?

Maxtor 536DX or Maxtor D540X. You may (although you probably won't) remember that I was debating what hard drive to get. Well I decided on the maxtor, and went to dabs.com to buy it, but then I saw there are two different 5400 RPM, 60 GB drives from maxtor, and the difference in price is only £4.70!

So is there any difference? And if there is, which one should I get (I am not bothered about the extra £4 for the D540X).

Thanks!

I have bad speeling and grammer, many typing errors, and I don't know what I'm talking about.

The D540X series (models beginning w/ 4D) have a faster seek time (9.6 compared to 12 on the 4K models). If you want a 100GB hard drive you would go with the 536DX series. If you wanted a 60GB you could have which ever series you think you need. If you want performance I wouldn't get either one.

Thanks for the reply.
But I don't understand, why would you not get the drive with a faster seek time for any capacity? Why does 100GB mean you don't want 9.6 ms seek time?
I am going to use the drive for file archiving so performance isnt that big a deal. I hope these are not stupid person questions, and I am sorry if they are :)

Seeing as the 100GB hard drive doesn't have a 9.6ms seek I don't understand the question. All I was pointing out is that these drives are slow and shouldn't be bought if your looking for performance. Seeing as you aren't looking for performance then the 100GB hard drive would be great, for you!
