i have a creative audigy soundcard. it has an intigrated firewire port. since installing windows xp when i plug my DV cam into there (or any other dv cam for that matter) i get an unknown device (not the camera) it is called: "AV/C SUBUNIT" and it doesn't not have device drivers for this. I was wondering if you had any solutions i've fooled around for hours! as soon as i unplug the camera the unknown device goes away. it is not camera drivers that i need i knwo that for a fact as there really are no firewire dv camera drivers out there
thanx for your time!
I've read a couple of user reviews of this card. Most of them are good but I've found a couple that mention driver issues as well. I know that on SB's website, (http://developer.creative.com/sb1394/product/welcome.asp) they list the compatible devices. Maybe there is an issue with the device, although I thought firewire was pretty universal.
I do a lot of editing and was considering the Audigy. One item that has held me back as far as using it to capture with is that I read a review (in a link from SB's website...i think,) that stated the transfer rate using the firewire in the Audigy as apposed to a seperate dedicated firewire card was a bit slower. When I say a bit, I mean it was like a 24 sec transfer instead of 18 second (or something like that).
Let me know what you find out and let me know how you like the card. I'm interested in knowing how well it records audio to put with video projects.
