Best system to do Graphic Design

I need to upgrade to a better PC for doing Graphic Design. The computer I currently have is about 4-5 years old and is getting a bit slow. Unfortunately, I have not stayed up to date on what components would be the best for doing graphics. I would like a system that would last 4-5 years again or one that I could update as I need to. Can anyone help me with this? I refuse to use a Mac.
